I have my 3rd cold of the season which seemed to get better, then I started to feel short of breath since 48h. Should I go for a consultation?

chest discomfort, I am sometimes short of breath, especially when walking or climbing stairs and have greenish mucus coming out of my throat. I was wondering if I should go see a doctor or if a treatment available in a pharmacy would be sufficient? Thanks in advance. I am 23 years old, I have rheumatoid arthritis and hypothyroidism on Plaquenil and Synthroid.

Hello Ma'am,
In my experience, when symptoms get a little better and eventually get worse, it is best to go for a consultation.
In fact, this sometimes represents a person contracting a viral infection that causes their immune system to "go down" and gives an opportunity for a bacterial infection to take over as well. The latter infection often needs to be treated with antibiotics.
Moreover, the symptoms you describe (shortness of breath when walking) suggest that the infection is more serious than a simple cold at this time.
I therefore recommend that you go for a consultation.
Good day,
