Should I go back to my doctor or is there anything I can do to solve the problem on my own?

I had a tonsillitis, I was prescribed penicillin for 10 days by my doctor. The sore throat came back even though it's been 6 days since I finished taking the penicillin. What should I do?

I had a tonsillitis during the first week of January. I took penicillin prescribed by my doctor for 10 days. I started having sore throats and symptoms again even though it has been a week since I finished my penicillin treatment

Hello Mrs.,
Is the sore throat accompanied by other symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose, even a little, fever, cough or other?

Last time I had a fever but no cough and no runny nose. Right now I have a little cough and a little runny nose but I don't have a fever.

Thanks for the information!
At first glance, I suggest acetaminophen (Tylenol and other brands) to relieve throat pain among other things. Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin and other brands, if you don't have any contraindications to taking them, your pharmacist can confirm this beforehand) can also help with pain.
I also suggest lozenges like Halls or Fisherman's Friend if needed, for local relief of throat irritation.
If your ears are not completely blocked, I strongly suggest nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. By 'cleaning' the nasal secretions, we can prevent them from flowing backwards into the throat which very often causes coughing. It's a bit unpleasant but it works wonders!
I also encourage you to drink a lot of fluids, cold or hot, depending on your preference.
If symptoms persist for more than 7 days without improvement, you should see a doctor.
I hope I've been helpful and I'm available if you have any other questions!
