When can I expect my period to return? If I don't have my period, when should I take a pregnancy test?

Hi, I unfortunately had a miscarriage (terminated pregnancy) at 12 weeks (baby died at 9 SA). The doctor recommended waiting one cycle before trying again and continuing my prenatal vitamins. I had a curettage. Why do I have to wait at least one cycle? Is it because there are more risks or can I carry a pregnancy to term without any problems if I have a non-return pregnancy?

Hello Ma'am,
According to my research, it is asked to wait a cycle simply to reduce the risk that if symptoms occur after the curettage, because of the curettage (which is rare), it will be possible to treat without having to terminate a new pregnancy.
As for the return of menstrual periods, they can be waited for a few more months. In any case, the best thing is to simply start having sex again on a regular basis (every 2-3 days), so that you can be sure to have at least 2 full periods during the next ovulation period.
