What to do about anal fissures?

30-year-old woman2 years ago
I have an anal fissure that has been healing, only to hurt again for two months. Last month, it went away by itself, after a few days. A few weeks later (yesterday), the pain came back. Was it really healed?

Hello ma'am,
Do you have any other symptoms such as constipation or diarrhea, which could be the cause of the pain?

No, I do not have constipation or diarrhea. However, I do have several bowel movements a day on a regular basis. The stools can sometimes be harder or softer in the same day.

Thanks for the feedback!
Applying Anusol Plus can help relieve the irritation.
I suggest for the next few days to use unscented wet wipes for hygiene after bowel movements.
If you have to strain for a bowel movement, stop and try again later
Also, avoid sitting on the toilet for too long as this position can make the pain worse.
If your stool tends to be hard, I encourage you to increase your fiber intake such as fruits and vegetables and whole grains and to drink plenty of fluids during the day to soften the stool.
I hope this is helpful to you, I am always available if you have any other questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
