What more can I do to get an appointment with an orthopedist?

66-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, I am 65 years old in May, I have osteoarthritis in my right hip. My family doctor sent a request to the health system in July 2021 and I still haven't heard back to meet with an orthopedist for an evaluation. Prior to December 2019, I was running 10 km a day, being outdoors summer and winter (biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking etc.) Now I have a cane and difficulty walking. I saw a sports medicine doctor on February 1 and he gave me a cortisone infiltration which gave me barely a 10% improvement.

Hello madam, sorry to read about your troubles!
Indeed the delays can be quite long :(
I invite you to consult your family physician and/or the physician specialized in sports medicine, in order to verify if the orthopedic request can be sent to another center, or if the present request can be resent.
There is also private but I will refrain from suggesting this avenue.
Sincerely
Tom Samaha, Pharmacist
