I noticed a whitish area on the upper gum line but it seems to be strangely located. Is it a tooth?

My boy is 5 months old. He has been running a temperature intermittently for 48 hours. I'm worried if it's his teeth. He didn't make any for his first two teeth. I thought about thrush but it doesn't hurt, his mouth is cleaned every day and no sign of it on my breast either. It doesn't go away when I rub it. I'm confused if it's really a tooth or a boo-boo caused by her bottom teeth maybe? I also took a picture. Still eating, sleeping more, still playing. Vomited twice but in high temperature. (39.3 rectal). Relieved with tylenol, but fever is coming back.

Good evening ma'am,
For privacy purposes, it is not possible to share photos here unfortunately :(.
That said, I would tend to wait until tomorrow before giving you any guidance. Indeed, when fever is present for more than 3 days in a child of this age, it is better to consult a doctor.
So, how is it evolving since this morning?

He had no fever all day until 5pm when his temperature rose to 38.2° rectal. Relieved with tylenol quickly. He ate well, slept well, and played well. No change in his habits except his fever which appears every night for the third consecutive night. He chews a lot, and mr bites while nursing. I really have the impression that it is the upper teeth, but I am bothered by the stain that appeared on his gum. An ulcer? It doesn't seem to be hurting her, but it doesn't seem to be her tooth either. I was still waiting since it was not in my ideal to make an appointment in a clinic with the pandemic! Would you recommend it to me?
Thank you so much for your reply!

Thanks for the details!
I would tend not to advise consultation with a doctor at this time. As for the staining, sometimes it happens when the teeth nearby are growing (a sort of "bud").
Bref, I think I'd wait at least 2 more days to see how it progresses, given that he's eating well and seems otherwise fine.
