Can we re-infect ourselves with our toothbrush etc. for streptococcus?

36-year-old woman5 years ago
2 x in 2 months that she sees her doctor. Both times it was strep, the first time she had basic antibiotics for 5 days and the second time for 10 days because her sore throat came back stronger. Now, 2 weeks later, she has finished her antibiotics, she has a fever tonight and her throat is still swollen and coughing. Besides seeing the doctor again, what can we do? Nothing to do, can we re-infect ourselves with a toothbrush etc.? Thank you (She is allergic to peneciline)

Hello and thank you for your question!
It is possible to have a strep infection on more than one occasion, since it is an infection that is easily transmitted from one person to another (micro-droplets emitted when you cough or sneeze, or by contact with the saliva of an infected person).
In addition to the basic measures (coughing into your elbow, washing your hands frequently), it is recommended that you change your toothbrush 24 hours after starting your antibiotic.
If the person you are talking about still has these symptoms, he/she should consult a doctor and mention which antibiotic he/she took 2 months ago (it would be appropriate to take a different one since his/her treatment is recent i.e. less than 3 months).
I hope this answers your question.
Feel free to ask me any other questions :)
Have a nice day,
Emmanuelle
