What can I take for menstrual pain?

19-year-old womana year ago
Hello, I am currently on the second day of my period and usually I feel almost no discomfort (I am on the pill). Today, the pain is unbearable and I have a big diarrhea that comes with it.

Hello Mrs,
In order to better understand your situation, would it be possible to obtain the following information:
  • Are you currently taking any medication?
  • Do you have any known allergies, intolerances, or contraindications?
  • Have you tried anything for your symptoms?

I usually take the birth control pill Alysena. Lactose intolerance, and I have only tried advils.

Thanks for the feedback!
Anti-inflammatories like Advil are the first line of treatment for painful periods if you have no contraindications to taking them (which your pharmacist can confirm).
Applying heat, such as a hot towel, hot water bottle or magic bag, can also help relieve the pain.
If these measures are insufficient, I advise you to consult a doctor as a precaution.
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
