With the skin reaction on my finger that seems to be related to my silver ring, what type of cream could I put on to lessen the effect?

29-year-old womana year ago
I had a reaction to a silver ring that I have worn for years. I always take my ring off before I go to bed or before I take a shower. I only keep it on when I wash my hands. Overnight, I had to take it off because I had a skin reaction on that finger only. The sensation is similar to a burning sensation, or irritation. It's been a few days now, and it seems to be going away, but sometimes when I wash my hands it brings back the discomfort. I wear other rings on my hands and I have not had any abnormal reaction.

Hello Mrs,
The basis of the treatment will be the hydration of the skin and other non-pharmacological measures:
A fragrance-free moisturizer such as Aveeno, Cutibase, Base Glaxal, Cerave and others should be applied as often as needed. The cream should be applied whenever irritation is felt, there is no maximum number of times per day.
Avoid scented soaps, and after bathing or showering, avoid rubbing the skin vigorously: instead, lightly pat the skin to leave a thin layer of moisture, then apply the moisturizer within 5 minutes.
Use gloves when in contact with potential irritants such as dish soap, laundry soap, cleaners, etc.
Be sure to wear gloves when you go out, even if it's just to get to your vehicle.
If this becomes a recurring thing, I believe that wearing this particular ring should be reconsidered.
If non-pharmacological measures are insufficient, you will need to consult a physician for a thorough evaluation of your needs.
I hope this has been helpful and remain available if you have any further questions!
