If I have an allergic reaction should I give benadryl even though it says not under 2 years old? And I go to the emergency room? 911? Pharmacy for epipen?

I have a 5 1/2 month old (corrected age) who is 7 months old uncorrected. I have started oatmeal cereal and I want to introduce purees and allergens like peanut butter.

Hello!
If your child has a severe allergic reaction to food, Epipen is the best choice. Benadryl does not work quickly enough to control a sudden severe reaction.
If you want to have one on hand to be safe, a child's Epipen can be purchased at a pharmacy. The pharmacist can prescribe it so that the cost goes to insurance on the record!
If the child is really having a reaction to food, the Epipen should be given and then you should go to the emergency room as soon as possible, because the effect of the Epipen is temporary.

Great thanks I will ask the pharmacist to get one! If it's a minor reaction not requiring epipen from a single system example a Rash on the skin. What dosage can we give benadryl or something else?

The dose of Benadryl will depend on your child's weight and the concentration of the product you have on hand. The safest thing to do is to ask your pharmacist to calculate the appropriate dose based on the products available in their pharmacy!
