My one month old baby has discharge from the eye?

My 1 month old baby had stink in the corner of one eye and when he woke up to drink his eye was stuck. Is a simple eye wash enough or does he need antibiotic drops? Can a pharmacist prescribe them?

Thank you for your question!
In the vast majority of cases, these symptoms resolve themselves, like a cold. As you mentioned, just keep the area clean with a clean, damp washcloth. Avoid sharing or reusing the washcloth as this can be contagious (just like a cold). Usually, this does not last more than 5-7 days.
However, if the discharge becomes heavier, darker, or does not seem to be improving, you should see a doctor.
I hope this has been helpful to you and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me
