After how long can we expect to see effects of the antibiotic treatment?

Hi, my daughter started amoxicillin for type C strep on Monday night. She is still coughing a lot.

The antibiotic requires 48 to 72 hours to take full effect

Does she have any other symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose?

Hello,

her nose is not running, but she often needs to blow her nose. She is also a little more tired than usual. She is 6 years old

If it hasn't been done already, I strongly suggest nasal hygiene with saline solution like Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse. It's a little uncomfortable but works extremely well to keep secretions from running down the throat, which often causes coughing

Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids, too.
