Good morning Madam,
If you have no health problems and are not immunocompromised, it is generally not necessary to have additional vaccines if your basic Quebec vaccination calendar is up to date.
  • Rabies vaccination may be considered if you will be in contact with free-ranging dogs.
  • Yellow fever vaccination is not required if you are not departing from Brazil. If you are pregnant, it is important to evaluate the risks and benefits of having it with a health professional since it is a live, attenuated vaccine.
  • Typhoid vaccination is recommended if you will be in rural areas or with poor sanitary conditions for a long period of time or if you are visiting friends or family.
Here is a link that provides more details about the precautions to take when traveling to the Dominican Republic: https://voyage.gc.ca/destinations/republique-dominicaine?_ga=2.225914589.616620493.1675787650-1613232355.1675787649#sante
Aside from vaccinations, it may be pertinent to have:
  • A treatment for traveler's diarrhea
  • Treatment for malaria is recommended if you are traveling to the provinces near Haiti, and the provinces of La Altagracia, San Cristóbal, San Juan, and Santo Domingo
Note that your community pharmacist can prescribe these treatments if you wish to have them.
I hope this answers your question,
