Could it be a gum infection?

26-year-old woman2 years ago
Streptococcus Hello, I have a group A streptococcus with almost all the symptoms (fever, intense swallowing pain, swollen and white tonsils) and this for 5 days. Started antibiotics (penicillin) 2 days ago. Before the antibiotics started, my pain (or infection because my tonsils were full of pus) spread to my gums (intense pain in the gums). My ears have also been clogged and ringing for the last 2-3 days without stopping. Today since I woke up, I am dizzy at the slightest movement and I noticed that the base of my gums (the part hidden by my lips) is very red... Is this related? Is it normal to be so dizzy? Thank you!

Hello Madam, I am sorry to read about your troubles!
Do you have any other symptoms besides these, like a runny or stuffy nose, even a little, nausea, or anything else?
Have you tried anything for these symptoms?
Are you pregnant or trying to get pregnant, or are you breastfeeding?
Do you have any allergies or intolerances?
Thank you for your time!

Yes I had nausea/vomiting the day before I started the antibiotics. Since I've been on antibiotics, no more vomiting but I still have nausea. My nose runs a little bit (only 2-3 times during the day). No, I am not pregnant/unwilling to become pregnant. No known allergies

Thank you for the information!
I suggest taking Gravol for dizziness and nausea. This product is available without a prescription and in different forms (liquid, tablets, chewable tablets, suppositories.)
As for the runny nose, in order to eliminate the possibility that it is congestion that causes these dizzinesses, I suggest nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as necessary during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
For the next few days, favor light foods such as soups, broths, toast, eggs, brown rice, and avoid very fatty or very sweet foods such as red meat and undiluted fruit juices.
I hope this has been helpful and am available if you have any further questions!
