I have had a cough for about 2-3 months that occurs at night and now sometimes during the day. It is a dry cough that wakes me up at night. I bought myself a humidifier that works and prevents me from coughing 2 times out of 3. It's a little tiring, I don't sleep well like before. I still have a dry spot at the back of my throat despite drinking water.

Often the cough is caused by sinus drainage, like a leaky faucet. This can be felt more at night when you are horizontal. To this end, I would be inclined to suggest nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
If this helps but partially, I suggest trying an anti-histamine like Claritin, Aerius or other. They are well tolerated and you can get a good idea of their effectiveness after 5-7 days.
I encourage you to try these. If they are not successful, I suggest that you consult a physician to assess the situation and not delay its management, if necessary.
