Is it possible that my spouse's semen is causing my vaginosis? Is there a solution?

I've already taken medication for vaginosis, but every time he comes in, I do one! We are trying for our first baby! Can this affect me?

Hello,
Effectively, contact with semen can unbalance the vaginal pH and put a woman at risk for bacterial vaginosis. To put the odds in your favor, it would also be important to check for other risk factors that you could eliminate from your daily routine; including promoting the use of a mild, unscented genital soap (e.g., Dove fragrance-free soap).e.g. Dove soap without fragrance), avoiding feminine cleansing products that aim to balance the vaginal pH (e.g. Vagisil), avoiding douching, and making sure you don't have any moisture in the area (e.g. tight clothing).
I hope this answers your question.
