To control the inflammatory reaction created by the sting, you may want to apply a 0.5 to 1% hydrocortisone cream twice a day until it heals. This cream is available over the counter in pharmacies. It is also possible to take a few doses of Benadryl, which can also help control the reaction. Be aware, however, that Benadryl may cause drowsiness. It is recommended that you do not drive or drink with alcohol. Also, avoid Benadryl cream, which is generally not very effective.
