What can be applied for a reaction to an insect bite?

My husband got bitten by a ladybug yesterday. He has a mini-reaction, he has a big red patch on his neck, it itches a lot, and it's getting a little swollen like a mosquito bite. Can he take something like Benadryl, or put on after bite to reduce the symptoms?

Good morning, ma'am,
A 0.5 or 1% hydrocortisone cream (available over the counter in pharmacies) can be applied 2 to 3 times a day as needed. I also suggest applying a fragrance-free moisturizer such as Aveeno as often as desired during the day. Finally, a cold wet towel (or ice) for 10-15 minutes can help relieve swelling.
I hope I've been helpful, please feel free if you have any other questions!
