Is Strattera recommended for adults?

I have a 23 year old son with Tourette's with diagnosed ADD. He is going back to school in August 2022. He also has anxiety. He is not on any medication at this time. We have seen 2 doctors for his ADD. One prescribed strattera up to 80mg (he weighs 145 lbs), the other nothing because strattera for adults is not effective for long. Two years ago, he took Intuniv 2 mg, but his blood pressure was too low, and he had frequent nosebleeds, so he stopped the medication. We give him magnesium bisglycinate at bedtime (250 mg) and 1000 mg D3 at breakfast for the winter.

Hello, thank you for your question!
At the time of writing, Strattera is indicated for treatment in adults. It has been shown to be effective in reducing the symptoms of ADHD. It is a second-line choice for people for whom first-line medications have not been effective or well tolerated
However, the physician who indicated this lack of effectiveness may have done so based on his or her own clinical experience

could methylphenidate increase his tics?

This is a possible side effect of methylphenidate. It is mostly dose-related, so this type of treatment is started at the lowest possible dose and the dose is increased gradually.
