Can I take Champix (Apo-varenicline) with cannabis?

Question

I recently started taking champix (Apo-varenicline) in order to quit smoking a month ago. First of all, I was wondering if consuming cannabis at the same time as the medication is not recommended. Also, I am experiencing a 2 week delay in my menstruation. Could this be caused by Champix (other causes of delay are unthinkable)? I am not on the pill and only use a condom. I have not had sex in a few months - so the possibility of pregnancy is not an option.

Hello Ma'am, Sorry for the delay in responding. There does not appear to be a significant interaction between Champix™ and cannabis (in fact, Champix™ is sometimes prescribed to people who are not able to stop smoking cannabis). As for the delay in your cycle, it is indeed possible. What birth control method are you using . Ok! In this case, it's indeed possible that it's coming from Champix™. In any case, it's nothing to worry about at this point. Your period may not even occur at all during this month. If, however, your period does not come on spontaneously within the next 2 menstrual cycles, then you will need to consult a doctor. Good luck with your smoking cessation! Alexandre
