Since I took my pill irregularly, I stopped it and took it again, after how long will it be effective if I start it again?

Hello! I am a 17 year old girl and I had started the birth control pill a few months ago since I had a boyfriend. We left each other, so I continued to take it for a while but irregularly. I stopped it afterwards. I started taking it again on Tuesday and I'm thinking of continuing it seriously since I have a new boyfriend.

Hello,

When you start a new pack after having stopped taking the pill for a while, it takes 7 days for the contraceptive to take full effect. Of course, this applies if you don't forget. Therefore, we must protect ourselves twice if we have sexual relations during the first week of the pack.
