How long can I apply 1% hydrocortisone until I see my doctor?

Hello, First of all, let me congratulate and thank you for your practical site. A real bible of relevant information for my little family and myself! My situation: last June 16th, I went to the walk-in clinic at my FMG thinking I had vaginitis like I do a few times a year. Itching, heat sensation and swollen labia. Following a swab and a laboratory analysis, it is NOT yeast vaginitis because all the tests are negative. I met with my doctor and was recommended hydrocortisone 1% to be applied 3 times a day for a week. It goes away, great. Unfortunately, I've had two one-week treatments and it's back. Swollen lips, irritation, itchy and hot but it doesn't sting in the vagina like vaginitis. Only in the vulva area. No smell, no discharge. I am already applying the many tips to avoid discomfort in this area: fragrance-free products, white underwear, etc. I am not going to see my doctor again until 3 months from now. I only see my doctor in 3 weeks and a gynecologist in over a month. Needless to say, I have not had sexual relations for more than 2 months.

Hello Ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
I would like to point out that if the lack of sexual relations is secondary to this irritation, it is a big problem that affects the quality of life and the quality of interpersonal relationships, if any. Most treatments must take this into account. You should never hesitate to discuss this with your doctor or other health care professional.
Using hydrocortisone for no more than 4 to 8 consecutive weeks should not be a problem. When symptoms improve, I would recommend using hydrocortisone as a maintenance treatment, one application every 2 to 3 days.
If not already done, the use of a moisturizer such as KY or Replens, is greatly encouraged here as well.
I hope I've been helpful, please feel free to ask any questions you may have
