I am pregnant, I often have to go to the bathroom, pain when urinating, feeling of not emptying the bladder, what can I do?

29-year-old woman2 years ago
I am 25 weeks pregnant and have symptoms of UTIs (more frequent urination, pain on urination, feeling like I am not emptying my bladder properly), but I don't have one (negative urine test and culture as of yesterday). What else could it be? I'm going to have a kidney ultrasound on Monday just in case. If not, is it possible that it's just because of the pressure of the baby? If so, what should I do? If not, is it possible that it is vaginitis? If so, is it ok to use external clotrimazole during pregnancy? Thank you very much in advance!

Hello ma'am, it is difficult to determine the exact cause of your symptoms. Did the doctor who requested the culture tell you about her/his assessment?
Pregnancy can indeed cause the frequent need to go to the bathroom. If this is the case, nothing to do, it is normal and frequent!
The more concentrated urine can cause the mild burning sensation. I encourage you to drink lots of fluids, this can help a lot
All in all, I am confident that your assessment will be further investigated as needed. Until the assessment is completed, please feel free to ask any questions you may have!
