What can I do to treat my ingrown toenail infection on my big toes?

31-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, for the past 12 days, my two big toes have been infected with ingrown toenails. The podiatrist in my city is on maternity leave until November. I have been soaking my feet in warm water with epsom salt and applying polysporin in the morning and evening. Usually the infection goes away after a few days, but not this time. This is also the first time my left big toe has been infected.

Hello Mrs.,
I do not suggest Polysporin for this, it is better to stop using it.
I suggest the Dakin recipe to soak the affected toes for 5 minutes, twice a day: 5 ml of 4% unscented bleach diluted in 3 cups (800 ml) of previously boiled and cooled water. After that, rinse the feet with clear water.
If after 3 days the situation does not improve or if the swelling or pain increases, you should consult a doctor so as not to delay the proper treatment
I hope I've been helpful and I'm available if you have any other questions!
