Hello,
I have been taking Escitalopram 10 mg for 2 months. I currently have covid and I have a lot of cough. I know I can't take cough syrup. I am looking for a way to relieve when I have a coughing fit. Are any cough drops allowed with Escitalopram?

Hello ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
Would it be possible to know if you have any other symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose right now, even a little?

Hello,
Yes, I sometimes have a blocked nostril. My cough is dry in the morning and evening until I drink water. It then becomes oily after a while.

Thank you for the information!
Considering the likely source of the cough, I strongly suggest nasal hygiene with saline solution such as Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse which can be done as often as needed during the day and at least 30 minutes before bed. It's a little uncomfortable but works extremely well to prevent secretions from running down the throat, which often causes coughing.
I encourage you to drink plenty of fluids, cold or hot depending on your preference. Lozenges such as Halls or Fisherman's Friend can provide local relief of throat irritation, if needed
These measures will be more effective than the syrups sold in pharmacies.
I hope this has been helpful and am available if you have any further questions!
