What can I do about my cough and diarrhea if I am possibly pregnant?

30-year-old woman2 years ago
Hi, I have asthma and a cold. I am currently almost 20 weeks pregnant. I have a bronchial cough with yellowish secretion and I also have diarrhea. Is there anything I can take other than my pumps to help reduce the coughing. Another question I have gestational diabetes what lozenge is safe to take while pregnant and not too much sugar.

Hello ma'am, sorry to read about your troubles!
In addition to your inhalers, I strongly suggest nasal hygiene with saline solution such as Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse, which can be done as often as needed during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. It's a little uncomfortable but works a treat to keep secretions from running down the throat, which often causes coughing.
I also encourage you to drink plenty of fluids, cold or hot, depending on your preference
Fisherman's Friend lozenges are safe during pregnancy and have no added sugar
I hope this has been helpful and I am available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, Pharmacist
