What can I do to make it better? When should I go back to the doctor? It worries me to see him like this.

My 5 and a half year old boy has had an ear infection for three days now and has been taking tylenol/motrin at the recommended dose. Tonight he complains of stomach ache, he feels like he is going to vomit but does not. He had 1/3 of his amoxicillin dose 5ml. He has hardly eaten.

Hello, ma'am,
In your opinion, is he complaining of irritation secondary to taking amoxicillin? Does he manage to eat even if less than usual?
When did he start the antibiotic?

Hello,
He had hardly eaten anything when this happened. He had only had one dose of amoxilin. So far, he seems fine today and has not complained of pain. He did not have to take tylenol or motrin again as the fever did not come back and neither did the pain. His stomach was probably irritated by the medication he took the last few days.

I would suggest, as a precaution, to give him the antibiotic in the middle of a meal, and try to favor foods he usually enjoys. Tylenol should also help with stomach pain, if any.
Finally, encourage him to drink plenty of fluids, even if it means giving him smaller amounts often.
