What can I do about a cough?

24-year-old woman2 years ago
I have a hollow cough that causes me pressure and pain when I cough. What can I do to get my secretions out? I take pumps, honey lozenges, cough syrup, I drink a lot!

Hello Mrs.,
Do you have any other symptoms such as a runny nose, even a little, coughing, sneezing, or other?
Are you pregnant or trying to become pregnant, or are you breastfeeding?
Do you have any allergies, intolerances or known contraindications?
Thank you for your interest!

I had a stuffy nose at the very beginning, but now I keep putting nasonex and doing the sinus nothing. I had a sore throat and ear too but it's not the case anymore. I only have a wet cough. I am not pregnant and I don't plan on becoming pregnant at this time. I have allergies to peanuts but not to any medications.

Thank you for the information!
You did well with Sinus Rinse in particular, it is the foundation of the treatment.
I am reassured that you mention an improvement in some of your symptoms
It is normal that the cough is the last symptom to disappear. Your best solution is to hydrate often, cold or hot liquids, as you prefer. A teaspoon of honey may also help. You should notice a gradual improvement every day.
I hope I've been of some help to you, and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Thank you for your answer, I have one last question, is it normal that the more I drink the more I cough? Should I continue my pump (flocent/ventolin), will the honey and lemon lozenges help me?

Coughing can help make throat secretions less 'sticky', so coughing may be temporarily increased to clear the secretions, but over time, drinking lots of fluids will decrease the cough. Lozenges may help if you have pain or irritation.
You can continue your other prescribed medications, including inhalers, as directed by your doctor and pharmacist.
