Hello Mrs,
You did the right thing with the Vaseline, it's a good option but it needs to be applied often, for example after every time he blows his nose.
The best treatment for discharge is nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as necessary during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime, followed by sucking up the secretions with a baby nose-blower (depending on his age). It's a little uncomfortable but works wonders!
If he has other symptoms such as sneezing or if you suspect that it is seasonal allergies (again, depending on his age), I suggest talking to his pharmacist to evaluate the possibility of starting an anti-histamine.
I hope this has been helpful and I am available if you have any further questions!

in fact I was asking more to take care of his redness under his nose and not his nasal discharge... because it is really intense and close to bleeding... I put what? aveeno cream? polysporin?

I suggest continuing to use Vaseline, as described above, but often: there is no maximum number of times per day.
However, if not already done, the cause should be addressed, i.e. the runny nose.
