Hello Mrs,
In order to better understand his needs, would it be possible to obtain the following information:
  • How long has he had these symptoms?
  • Besides the cough, does he have other symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose, even a little?
  • Have you tried anything for this?
  • Is he taking any other medications?
Thank you

he vomited mucus on Tuesday night.

Thank you for the information.
The best treatment for the symptoms you describe is nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime, followed by suctioning the secretions with a baby flyer if he is not yet blowing his nose. By 'cleaning' the nasal secretions, we can reduce the backward flow of secretions, which often causes coughing. It's a little uncomfortable but works wonders!
I also encourage you to give him plenty to drink, and often. A teaspoon of honey can also help relieve the cough.
As for the white patches in the mouth, if they persist for more than 5 days without improvement, you will have to consult a doctor so as not to delay the proper treatment, if any.
I hope I have been helpful to you, I remain available if you have any other questions!
