What can I do to help my nail heal?

About two months ago I closed my car door on my thumb. It's not broken but the nail is having a lot of trouble growing back and I'm afraid it's not growing where the impact was. (How can I send you a picture?) And on the right it looks like it's growing under my skin. What can I do/take to help it grow all the way back? (I already take Nutricap and use emu oil every day)

Also, the pharmacist advised me to take Biotin but since I already take Nutricap for my hair, I was not sure if I could take both at the same time. I would like to be able to send you a picture so that it would be easier for you to advise me according to my situation.

Hello Mrs,
Nails grow very slowly and therefore heal very slowly. All I suggest is to keep the area clean with water and mild soap and moisturize often with a fragrance free cream like Aveeno, Glaxal Base or other.
The supplements mentioned will only help if you have a deficiency, which can only be detected with a blood test...
You could mark the tip of the nail with a pen to check from week to week if there is a growth. Otherwise, you should consult a doctor to rule out other causes.
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
