A hemorrhoid is usually accompanied by itching, irritation, a burning sensation, or the presence of a bit of light red blood on the toilet paper or in the toilet bowl during defecation. This is often related to constipation and usually resolves within 1 week. Over-the-counter supportive treatment is available if needed:
Anusol multi-symptom applied to the hemorrhoid twice a day and after each bowel movement for 1 week
If you have pain: Anusol Plus 2 times a day and after each bowel movement for 1 week
If you have inflammation without pain: Anusol HC 2 times a day and after each bowel movement for 1 week
If you have blood in your stool (black stool), fever, severe abdominal cramps, or if your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment, you should see a doctor.
