What causes this tingling in the anus and what to do to stop it?

For the past few weeks (2-3) my anus has been stinging, especially at night but sometimes at other times. The duration varies but it can sting for a long time. I don't know if this is relevant, but I have about 3x bowel movements a day. No other symptoms and no treatment yet. I know my sister had grubs as a child, could this be it?

Good morning, ma'am, Are there any other symptoms like bleeding? Have you tried anything for this problem? Thanks for the feedback. The only way to know if they are worms is with the "tape test". In the middle of the night, apply a piece of tape between the buttocks to test for worms. Otherwise, it could simply be that the hygiene is irritating the skin. I suggest using unscented wet wipes, a wet washcloth or bidet for hygiene for the next few days to week. Avoid rubbing the area too vigorously. A protective paste such as Barrier Cream or even a Zinc-based paste such as Zincofax Extra Strength can be applied.
