What can I do to reduce my wrist pain?

25-year-old woman2 years ago
My wrist hurts when I move it. Following a physical procedure I had to do at work, I am no longer able to move it up and down. It pulls and I have an uncomfortable pain. I can barely lean on it or write.

Good morning, ma'am,
When did you first notice this?
Have you tried anything for this problem?
Are you currently taking any other medications?
Are you pregnant or trying to become pregnant or are you breastfeeding?
Do you have any allergies or intolerances?

Thanks for the information!
The first-line treatment for a new pain like this is an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin and other brands) or naproxen (Aleve), available without a prescription
Applying ice in a wet towel or bag, for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, can also help relieve the inflammation.
I strongly encourage you to consult a physiotherapist. They are the best professionals to assess the pain and develop a realistic treatment plan with you to not only relieve it but also prevent it in the future. Most group insurance plans cover this type of service.
I hope that I have been helpful to you and remain available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
