What sleep medications can I take with citalopram?

Hello! I have been taking citalopram (10 mg) for a week and it wakes me up at night. I'm wondering if I can take trazodone (25 mg) with it? If not, what over the counter medications can help me sleep? Thank you for your help! I would like to point out that I take my antidepressant in the morning. It's for my anxiety disorder. Hello , Trazodone is indeed a good choice of medication to help you sleep. Citalopram can also cause insomnia as can anxiety. It can sometimes be difficult to determine if it is the medication or something else that is causing the insomnia. Taking trazodone for a few days 30 minutes before bedtime is a good option. However, if the insomnia persists, a discussion with your pharmacist or with me would be appropriate to review the situation and determine if a change in medication is necessary. It makes me happy.
