What over-the-counter medication can I take to help with my secretions?

I had the flu 10 days ago. I still cough a lot at night. The secretions from my nose go down my throat, tickle me and make me cough. It keeps me awake. I guess time will do the trick

I cough at night and during the day. At night it constantly tickles in the back of my throat, and sputum when I cough hard. Day 11. I still have yellowish nasal secretions. Partial congestion. I guess I have to be patient before consulting...

Hello ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
Would it be possible to know if you have tried or taken anything for this problem?

At first, with the fever, I took cold and sinus advils since I was very congested. Now the congestion is less, and it's really the cough that has taken over. I only take nasal showers now and cough drops. I cough less and less during the day, but at night, it's still hard to stop the cough when it comes.

Thanks for the feedback! You did the right thing with nasal hygiene, which I encourage as often as necessary during the day and at least 30 minutes before bed. This is the first line of treatment. I also encourage you to drink plenty of fluids, cold or hot depending on your preference. A teaspoon of honey may also help.
You should continue to notice a gradual improvement every day. It is common for the cough to be the last symptom to go away, even several weeks after recovery.
Sincerely
