The situation you describe tends to improve on its own, but you can try the following tips:
Suck on candy or lozenges or chew gum (preferably sugar-free) to stimulate salivation
Make sure you stay well hydrated during the day
Hot compresses and/or gargling with water and salt can be tried
If the situation does not improve a little bit every day, or if other symptoms occur, such as fever, appearance of pus, or swelling that increases, I strongly advise you to see a dentist.
