The patient is starting a 9 chemo treatment after a 5 month respite.he has colorectal cancer with liver metastasis discovered in July 2017. Yesterday during treatment, a patient with the same diagnosis took turmeric with black pepper and had 3 years of respite after 6 treatments of chemo. Diagnosed in 2010, she exceeded the expected survival! Thank you

Hello,
Turmeric intake in coloreal cancer has not been the subject of any conclusive study. It is therefore very difficult for me to recommend taking it in conjunction with chemotherapy. It is important to understand that several factors can affect the effects of this supplement, starting with the quantity used. That being said, the information that you have shared with me about the patient who exceeded her expected survival is very interesting, but it must be understood that a significant number of patients exceed their expected survival, without this being related to the use of a supplement.

In order to judge the appropriateness of the use of turmeric for the patient's cancer you mention, I suggest you discuss with the patient's oncologist. Thus, and taking into account the chemotherapy used, he will be able to judge if turmeric could be interesting.

In the meantime, I also suggest that you stick to the amounts of turmeric that are usually consumed through a normal diet.
