What should I do when I have to take a medication on an empty stomach in the morning (Synthroid), but the nausea of pregnancy makes me vomit it right away?

As soon as I get up, I take my synthroid with a mini glass of water, but it comes out 10 minutes later before I have had time to swallow anything else. This treatment is new for me (since 6 days). I am 12 weeks pregnant.

Hello, Synthroid is very important for pregnancy. It does not have time to be absorbed if you vomit 10 minutes after taking it. Since nausea during pregnancy is frequent in the morning, I advise you to take your Synthroid on an empty stomach in the evening before going to bed, and this every day. The expected effect will be the same. However, it is necessary to space it out by 2 hours with the vitamins (ex: Materna). If you have a problem taking it at night, talk to your pharmacist. He or she will be able to recommend a safe medication for your morning sickness and thus avoid vomiting
