What might these be and do they require an emergency room visit?

My daughter has large red patches all in the same place (under her arm, on her ribs and back) after spending a day at the beach. Benadryl and Tylenol had no effect on the pain last night. She was screaming in pain. She is 2 years old. I circled the patches last night and this morning they are still the same size, but they only hurt when touched.

Hello,
It's hard to say without seeing the patches in question.
Is it on a sun-exposed area? It could be sunburn.
Is it on an area where you applied sunscreen? It could be contact dermatitis.
Was it in contact with a plant or chemical substance?
Was it bitten by an insect?
You can continue to monitor the redness, if it has not increased at this time it is a good sign.
If it is possible for you, it would be ideal to go to a pharmacy with your daughter to show the redness in question.
If not, I would recommend you to consult if you are not able to find the cause since her pains seem intense. I
Happy day!
Marie-Laurence Gauthier, pharmacist.
