My C-reactive protein level is 12 mg/L and I'm worried. What should I do?

32-year-old woman4 years ago
For the past year, I have received several blood tests with a high C-reactive protein, but no professional talks to me about it and when I look on the internet, they talk about cancer or serious diseases. Can you please tell me more? Thank you

Hello Ma'am,
You don't hear about it just because 12...it's not that high.
C-reactive protein is a nonspecific marker for inflammation. This means that a person will have a higher level than yours when they have arthritis, inflammation in the gut, etc.
A person could reach a level of 12 by simply being overweight or exercising moderately to intensely before the blood is drawn.
Bref, if you don't have a serious illness right now, and you otherwise feel fine, there's no need to worry about it.
Happy day,
