Nipple pain while breastfeeding
I have been breastfeeding for about 3 weeks for the first time. My nipples are more and more irritated, a little bit pinker than usual and besides the lanolin cream, what can I do or buy to reduce the irritation? I bought the hydro pads that I'm going to try too....but the more time goes by the more irritated I feel them. I don't want to stop breastfeeding but if I am irritated and it continues with breastfeeding or pumping my milk to spare myself, how will I reduce the irritation?
What product can I buy to help me? I think that during a breast pumping session this week, I must have used too much intensity with the breast pump and since then the irritation only increases with breastfeeding? Because I don't have any cracks or fissures but some redness and they are more and more sensitive to the touch.
Thank you for your help!

Hello Ma'am,
Aside from lanolin ointment, which I suggest applying after each feeding or use of the breast pump, a pain reliever such as Tylenol can help relieve the irritation.
Otherwise, there are other solutions, but they require a doctor's prescription. To that end, if you have had no improvement with lanolin, or if the situation has worsened, you will need to talk to a doctor or specialized nurse practitioner.
