Hello Madam, I am sorry to read about your troubles!
The basis of treatment will be nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. Cleansing nasal secretions can reduce the backward flow of secretions that often causes congestion, discharge, and coughing, as well as the feeling of pressure in the sinuses.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol and other brands) remains the best treatment for sinus pain. Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin and other brands, if you have no contraindications, your pharmacist will be able to confirm this) can also help with pain.
For the feeling of congestion and pressure, a decongestant nasal spray such as Drixoral or Dristan can help, but it should not be used for more than 3 to 5 days. You should also check with your pharmacist to make sure the medication is safe for you.
If your symptoms persist for more than a week without improvement or get worse, you should see a doctor for a thorough evaluation of your condition and to avoid delaying the right treatment, if necessary.
If you have not already done so, I would also suggest, if only as a precaution, a quick test for COVID.
I remain available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
