I took my pressure at the pharmacy and it was 145/95 with a pulse of 80, am I hypertensive? I am 57 years old and my measurements are 6' 220lbs, which gives me a BMI of 30 (Obese).

Hello, thank you for your question. It is very difficult to establish a diagnosis of hypertension with only one value. Also, blood pressure targets are different depending on other health conditions (for example, targets are lower in diabetes)
I suggest that you measure your blood pressure for 2-3 weeks to take into account possible fluctuations. Also, don't always measure at the same time of day because blood pressure changes with the time of day. Write down the date and time of the measurement, the arm on which the measurement was taken, and then bring your results to your doctor who will evaluate your condition
The measurement is done sitting down, back supported and arms at rest, the 2 flat feet on the ground. Make sure you have not had coffee, eaten or smoked in the hour before the measurement, that your bladder is empty, and that you do not talk during the measurement. Your pharmacist will be able to help you if needed. Do you have any other questions?
