Is it almost certain that I will not get cold sores as frequently since I take Valtrex every day? How effective is it?

Cold sores - Valtrex Hello. Since July, I always have cold sores. I have them every two months. It's always every time my boyfriend comes to visit me (we are in a long distance relationship). When he leaves, after a couple of days I get cold sores. Usually it's more than 4 cold sores. (On my lips and around my mouth). For the past month, my doctor has prescribed Valtrex every day for six months. But every time I feel a tingle or tickle on or around my lip, I start to go crazy and I just think about it. It literally ruins my life. Almost every day I think I'm going to have another cold sore. The last time I had cold sores, it started on December 23.
