I have been taking Sertraline since last September and have gained a lot of weight. When I stop the treatment, will I lose some of it?

Hello,
In order to properly answer your question, I need to validate some information.
For what indication are you taking this medication?
What is the dose you are taking?
Is it effective?

Hello,
I have been taking 75mg since September for anxiety treatment. It works well, but I still have periods of anxiety at times.

It can be normal to still have periods of anxiety. When these are caused by everyday stressors, this is completely normal. However, if the anxiety you are experiencing is not related to any stressors or situations you are experiencing, it may not be optimal.
Normally, when treating anxiety, treatment often requires long-term continuation. When stopped, the symptoms may return. So, a change in treatment may be warranted because the effectiveness of the treatment does not seem adequate and you are experiencing side effects (weight gain). If you are able to see your doctor, I suggest you talk to him about Trintellix. It is a new molecule that causes fewer side effects than the others. It is normally pretty neutral on weight gain and is very effective for anxiety disorders as well.
