Interactions between birth control pills and supplements? What to take for sleep?

23-year-old woman3 years ago
I take Biotin, probiotics, B12, vitamin C and D, melatonin sometimes and CBD oil sometimes to sleep and reduce anxiety. Which products are not compatible with Lolo birth control pill? Also, what are the other products that help the sleep? Other than melatonin?

Hello, and thank you for your question.
All of the products you listed are compatible with the Lolo contraceptive. However, some sources suggest not combining melatonin with other products that can cause drowsiness, such as those named below, as well as CBD oil.
Other than melatonin, other natural health products might help induce sleep, such as valerian and chamomile, but the data on their efficacy is not very strong.
For more questions about your condition, I strongly suggest you consult your pharmacist, who can personalize the discussion with you.

Melanin should not be combined with other products such as chamomile, nor CBD oil?
Then, the Lolo contraceptive is compatible with all types of medication except antibiotics that interfere with the effectiveness of the contraception?
Also, another question...does the LOLO contraceptive create side effects that persist over time if I stop it?
Thank you!

In fact it is not recommended to combine several medications that can cause drowsiness as these effects can be increased.
As for contraceptives, they are not compatible with all types of medications. It's a compatibility that has to be checked on a case-by-case basis, with each product. Moreover, I want to qualify that antibiotics (except for very rare cases) do not diminish the effectiveness of contraceptives, but the diarrhea that they can sometimes cause can diminish the effectiveness of contraceptives. And this holds true for any drug, product or substance that would cause diarrhea.
Finally, contraceptive-related side effects usually go away if the contraceptive is stopped.

Still me...
Is it better that I wait until I'm in my week to start the contraceptive or can I start it any Sunday (I don't want my period on the weekend)?
Since I was in my week last week, but I have an endometrial ultrasound in 2 weeks, is it better that I wait until after my ultrasound to start it (so that there is no change in the endometrium from the pill). However, if I wait until after the ultrasound it will prevent my natural cycle from coming and that is not good?
Finally. By stopping the pill, does the period go back to the way it was before the pill? And can we get more acne by stopping?
Thank you very much! It makes me feel better about your answers!

Also, can spermicide make infections?
What type of spermicide do you recommend with Magnum Trojan latex condoms? Is there any available over the counter?

If you wish to not menstruate over the weekend, you will need to start the contraceptive on the Sunday after your period starts. You will ideally want to make sure you have a second method of birth control for the first 7 days of taking the contraceptive (such as using a condom).
You could start the contraceptive today if you want. However, if your period is more than 5 days old, a second method of birth control is needed for the first 7 days of taking the contraceptive. You can actually start your birth control before the ultrasound, as this will not affect the results.
If you stop your contraceptive, the period will return as before, but it may take 3 to 6 months.
Finally, yes, spermicides increase the risk of infection and are not recommended. So I recommend using a condom without spermicides.

So I have to wait until my next period and take a first pill the Sunday after my period starts. Is this the only way to not have a period on the weekend?

Yes, that's the way to go, the first Sunday after your period starts would be the best way to avoid having your period on the weekend as much as possible.
Don't hesitate if you have any other questions!
