Good morning, Madam,
In general, colored secretions are a possible indicator of an ongoing infection. Thus, the effectiveness of syrups is not well proven for coughs. Therefore, non-pharmacological measures are recommended in these situations:
- Sore throat: gargle with water and salt (1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of salt in 250 ml of water)
- Cough : drink water, take honey to soothe the throat
- Rest well
If there is nasal secretion or congestion, I recommend using a saline solution, such as HydraSense and Sinus Rinse, to clean the nose in order to limit the secretions that flow down the throat.
For pain and fever, Tylenol alone (maximum of 4000 mg per day for a short period of time) can usually be used. However, you must be careful since Benylin all-in-one already contains Tylenol, so do not combine them.
To better understand your situation, do you have any known lung conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease?
