Can we give melatonin to a 6 month old baby to help her sleep because she has a cold? She has been crying non-stop since her cold and we have already consulted a doctor.

Hello Mrs., thank you for your question, I'm sorry to read about her troubles!
If it's the cold symptoms that are keeping your baby awake, those are the ones that need to be addressed. Also, there is no reason to give melatonin to a baby at this age.
I realize that the situation may seem very unpleasant. However, a medication or product is not an option at this time. The difficulties associated with cold symptoms are extremely common but do not necessarily indicate any kind of sleep problem.
The best treatment for the symptoms you describe is nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime, followed by suctioning out the secretions with a baby fly. By 'cleaning' the nasal secretions, it is a bit unpleasant but works wonderfully:
I also encourage you to give him plenty to drink.
I hope I've been helpful, I'm still available if you have any other questions!
