Can you explain to me why a pharmacist would not be able to refill a prescription for a post-menopausal person? This is what I was told when I asked for a refill of my antibiotic prescription for a UTI.

I get urinary tract infections a few times a year. The pharmacist knows my situation well.

Bill 41 does allow a pharmacist to renew some of your medications under very specific conditions. In the case of urinary tract infections, menopause is a factor that excludes a pharmacist from carrying out a renewal. The logic behind this restriction is that, in menopausal women, the symptoms of infection can sometimes be confused with other medical conditions.
